Leaving Pontrieux

On the 28th of June, the sun is shining and it’s our grand depart ! We’re going down the Trieux River joined by some friends till the Roche Jagu Castel. Everything would be perfect but the engine starts coughing and then stops several times…we think we run out of gas, confident, we set sails to reach Lezardrieux harbor. At the station we find out the tank is full! Damned! There’s air coming into the fuel system from somewhere that stops feeding the engine.

Wind is beating S-SW force 4-5, not ideal but we reach the bay of Morlaix (35NM) where we drop the anchor to fix the problem and wait for favorable weather. After few days, weather is getting worse (wind force 6 to 8 and high coefficient of tide) but Ludo has isolated the breakdown: it’s the stupid termination of the fuel hose from the tank to the engine which is damaged: after pins probably the smallest thing on the boat is causing such a stress! We spend two days in Morlaix harbor to find the part and buy some more good food we’ll be missing later. As soon as we can we’ll be sailing to Camaret.
